Woman fired for having premarital sex

A former employee of a local Bible college is filing a wrongful termination suit after she claims she was fired for having premarital sex. The woman, who had worked in the financial aid department at San Diego Christian College in El Cajon, Calif., became pregnant out of wedlock during her time at the school. She was fired about four months ago, according to media reports.

Former police secretary nets termination settlement

California's nearby neighbor, Washington state, will pay the former confidential secretary more than $587,000 in connection with a wrongful termination suit. The woman had been the secretary for a former police chief, who was reportedly fired in 2005 for dishonesty. That man has also received financial compensation for his termination. He was unfairly targeted and fired because he publicly advocated marijuana legalization.

Cop sues department, city for sexual harassment

Police officers are supposed to protect the public and each other from those breaking the law, but it appears that one officer in Contra Costa County, Ca., forgot this part of his duty. The man is accused of creating a hostile work environment for a female co-worker after the two broke off their romantic relationship. The pair had been dating sporadically for three years when the man began stalking the woman, according to court documents. The woman is suing the city and the police department for allowing the harassment to continue.

School psychologist nets $69K in wrongful termination suit

Parents are provided with certain rights in the modern workforce, including the ability to take time off to care for their newborn or newly adopted children. These provisions, which fall under the Family Medical Leave Act, allow new parents to take up to 12 weeks' time off from work without professional penalties. A school psychologist in San Rafael alleged that her FMLA rights were violated, and she has won as $69,000 suit for wrongful termination.
